Better Off Dead

Swallow pain like a pill that dissolves in your heart
Try to keep your face stony as it rips you apart
Feel it rush through your bloodstream and burn through your veins
swimming in your mind to drive you insane

Drink up guilt like the alcohol used to drown your sorrows
until you hate yourself so much you don’t want to wake up tomorrow
Let it burst through your liver and punish you so well
that it would be a relief if you went straight to hell

Eat anger like a feast of delectable acid
Destroy everything in sight, so sick of being placid
Wreak havoc, shatter kingdoms, breathe poisonous fire
Burn holes through yourself with acerbic ire

Tie a noose ‘round your neck, kick away a chair
or jump off a skyscraper, falling through air
Press a gun to your temple and oh-so-gently squeeze the trigger
or slice at your arms, watch the pool of blood grow bigger

We all feel like shit, sometimes even worse
We call life a blessing, feels more like a curse
And I can’t handle the mess in both my heart and my head
So maybe I would just be better off dead.
